Research interests

My research expertise is mainly focused on biogeochemistry and ecosystem functioning of (semi-)natural ecosystems. I studied acidification and eutrophication of forest ecosystems on poor sandy soils, characterised by high emissions of nitrogen and potentially acidifying pollutants. Within my PhD, I studied the effects of the forest type on acidification and element seepage to groundwater. Recently, my research is focused on nature restoration on former agricultural fields. I focused on the impact of tree species and forest age on different soil P fractions. At the moment, I'm studying the impact of bioavailable phosphorus on plant and soil microbial community interactions in grassland under restoration management.
